The Recipients | Disaster Relief
The world has experienced a variety of tragedies over recent years, and whether near or far, the impact has affected us all. While the Foundation focuses on its local communities, these tragic events compel us to offer compassion and help to those in need wherever they live. From September 11th to the Asian Tsunami to the destructive hurricanes along the Gulf coast, the New Balance Foundation and New Balance Corporation have pledged millions to relief and rebuilding efforts. Associates have made unprecedented personal contributions to organizations such as Oxfam America and the Red Cross, and the company continually provides in-kind contributions to disaster victims around the globe.
Habitat for Humanity
In response to the profound devastation caused by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the New Balance Foundation contributed $1 million to Habitat for Humanity to help provide permanent housing solutions for victims along America's Gulf Coast.
New Balance Foundation's gift will be used to support traditional in-place home building in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama – those areas hardest hit during this past hurricane season—beginning in the second quarter of 2006.
